Alina Ring and Marco Müller climb to the top

The lead Swiss champions 2017 have been confirmed: Alina Ring and Marco Müller win the last competition of the Bächli Swiss Climbing Cup 2017 in Uster and at the same time celebrate the Swiss championship title. Sara Werthmüller and Philipp Geisenhoff prevail in the U18 category.

For the national season finale, the climbing hall Griffig in Uster welcomed the best lead climbers in Switzerland. At the fifth and final competition of the Bächli Swiss Climbing Cup series 2017, the Swiss Champions were simultaneously selected in the supreme discipline of sport climbing.

Rebekah against Alina

Alina Ring, a Zurich resident, has already topped the league table after the two qualifying routes. The 18-year-old was no longer able to take this top position in the final of the best six athletes. Although she reached there together with Rebekka Stotz (Urdorf ZH) the same height, due to the better result from the qualification but the title went to ring. Vice-Swiss champion became Rebekka Stotz. Place 3 went to Katherine Choong (Glovelier JU).

First championship title in the elite for Marco

Defending champion Sascha Lehmann (Burgdorf BE) took first place in the men's ranking after qualifying. But the final of the strongest five athletes mixed the ranking again. Marco Müller (Küssnacht am Rigi SZ) mastered the one key position in the final route best and climbed the highest. Thus celebrated the Schwyzer his first championship title in the elite. Silver went to Kevin Heiniger (Schwarzenbach BE). Kevin Huser (Widen AG) climbed to place 3. Last year's winner Lehmann had to settle for 4.

Victory for Sara Werthmüller and Philipp Geisenhoff at the U18

In the category U18 Sara Werthmüller (Rothenfluh BL) showed a strong competition from start to finish and celebrated with the masterpiece her biggest success at the national level. Vice Swiss Champion became Hannah Hermann (Lucerne LU). Annalisa Tognon (Langnau am Albis ZH) climbed to place 3.

Philipp Geisenhoff (Dornach SO) made the triple for the U18 men: After the championship titles in bouldering and speed this season, the Solothurner also secured the lead in the gold medal. Second was Julien Clémence (Gisikon LU). Bronze won the Frenchman Dylan Chuat (Vessy GE).

Most successful SAC regional center 2017: Central Switzerland

Following the medal presentation, further awards were given at the end of the season: Alina Ring and Kevin Heiniger celebrated the overall victory of the Bächli Swiss Climbing Cup 2017. The awards went to Hannah Hermann and Philipp Geisenhoff in the U18 category.

Furthermore, the "Mammut Rookie of the year" was honored. Tim Bucher (Heiligkreuz SG), who looks back on a very successful 2017 season, received this trophy.

Also awarded was the most successful SAC regional center. As in the previous year, the regional center of Central Switzerland took off from Zurich with a lead of 120 points. Place 3 took Grisons.
