Massive rockfall near Kandersteg

A large rock fall occurred on a rock face on the Almenalp on Thursday. According to the canton police, no one was injured.

At 16.30:15 p.m., the cantonal police in Bern received a report about a massive rock fall near Kandersteg. According to the mayor of the municipality, René Mäder, 000 to 20 cubic meters of rock have loosened in the area of ​​the Almenalp railway.

The area has already been closed as a precaution. The company Geotest had warned of a rockfall after measurements in the area, as reported by Swiss television. According to Daniel Tobler, Managing Director of Geotest, it was a matter of time before the rockfall happened. Recent temperature fluctuations would have favored the process.
