Samuel Ometz and Giuliano Cameroni celebrate Special Edition sit (8a +) in Brione

Valais climber Samuel Ometz and Giuliano Cameroni from Ticino are expanding the Brione classic Special Edition to include a seat start. As a difficulty, the two indicate 8a +. IMPORTANT: Please note access restrictions (details below) !!

Special Edition is one of the most beautiful lines in the Ticino boulder area Brione and is a correspondingly often committed block. The original and still often with 8a rated Boulder is now often rated with only 7c +. Giuliano Cameroni himself even writes about the “wrongest 8a boulder” in his route book and states 7c.

Samuel Ometz and Giuliano celebrate seat launch version of Special Edition

Much more difficult now is the seat launch version of the same Boulder. Samuel Ometz and Giuliano walked the line on Thursday last week and rated it 8a +. "I tried to start sitting on a day before and it seemed possible to me," Samuel told LACRUX. "Last Thursday I came back with Giuliano and we both scored the seat start version," he continues. The first ascent or at least an earlier ascent was apparently the responsibility of Manuel Hassler von flat holdas Samuel later found out. Video below.

Please note: access restriction

The Verzasca Valley is a beautiful area of unique blocks, often on private land. This is also the case with the Boulder Special Edition. The owner told Samuel it was okay to climb the block unless he was on his private property. This means the following: The car is parked at the parking Aquino on the main road. From there follow the small road until it turns left. There you go right into the forest. Please do not pass by the houses! Please respect the landowners and the local people and pass on this access restriction to your friends so that this exceptional bouldering area is preserved.
