Two climbers on the Matterhorn have died fatally

On Tuesday, October 19, 2021, two alpinists fell while climbing the north face of the Matterhorn. The two men could only be recovered dead.

The accident happened around noon. The two Swiss Alpinists (born in 1996 and 1997) were roped up to the Matterhorn at this point. At an altitude of approx. 4 m. Above sea level. Meer crashed the two men - for reasons that are not currently clear - over the north face. They could only be recovered dead.

The public prosecutor's office has started an investigation in cooperation with the canton police.
