7 days until the opening of the Boulder World Cup season

On Friday, 7. April 2017, the international climbing elite gathers in Switzerland. Reason for the meeting is the first competition of the Boulder World Cup 2017. The competition takes place within the framework of the Haslital Mountain Festival.

Around the tennis hall Meiringen is currently busy. Carpenters, builders, event technicians and route builders are busy at work. The tennis hall Meiringen becomes a bouldering arena with ten boulder walls, each five meters high.

For the Boulder World Cup in Meiringen, the SAC Swiss Climbing Team is traveling to the Bernese Oberland with nine ladies and ten men. The Swiss team is led by Petra Klingler, who won the Boulder World Championship last season in Paris.

"Like every year, I'm looking forward to tackling the new season. Of course, comes with the title and a greater pressure. But I try not to overstate the expectations of myself. Of course I would love to climb the podium.

But at the beginning of the season it is difficult to estimate where the other athletes are. Only at the first competition does it become clear what the others did during the winter, "says the 25-year-old woman from Zurich.
