8. Magic Wood Clean Up Days Avers

Where a lot of people are loitering, the garbage collects. So also in the world famous bouldering area Magic Wood. For the eighth time, IG Magic Wood organized the waste collection campaign Magic Wood Clean Up Days.

A guest post by Thomas Saluz, Bodhi Camping

Again almost 100 volunteers have gathered for the eighth edition of our annual, legendary Clean Up Day in the morning for registration and briefing. After a short address by IG Magic Wood, the participants were allowed to collect rubbish in all sectors in Magic Wood and remove traces of magnesia. Furthermore, everything along the road from the old smelting furnaces to the entrance to the village of Ferrera was cleared of rubbish and other rubbish, so that at the end of the day a considerable amount of rubbish was collected again.

Cleaning action extended to the icefalls

A small group had to jump for the not appear the ice climber in the breach. Since our Clean Up Day has already taken on a considerable scale anyway, the cleaning action has been extended to the icefalls and we hope to further expand this in the next few years. Hopefully next time with one or the other ice climber.

Rainy cleanup day

As always on Clean Up Day, the day was not marked by the sunshine. Rain was small in the morning, in between, and later in the night. Moist is better to clean up as climbing moves into the background.

Grillade awards ceremony and concert

Punctually at 19 clock price distribution was made. As always, the participants found a generous gift table. Thus, everything could be distributed even before dark and at the same time the grill would be tackled. Efficiently, the hungry mouths could be fed and then everything is set up for the concert.

We gladly waited one more year for the following concert of "She and the Junkies". The boys really got into it and forgot the fatigue of drinking and dancing until after midnight.

Bouldering for a good cause

The 1 was on Sunday. Magic Wood Charity Boulder Event. Participants were able to donate a voluntary amount to ClimbAID.org and then climb various boulders in the Magic Wood, depending on the difficulty category. The start is still tough and we hope to motivate more people to participate in this fun event next year. The winners were quickly determined and the prizes went to Paola Radiere and Mattia Rossi from Italy. We congratulate both and thank you for your participation and donation. At the end of the day, CHF 140.- francs came together for ClimbAID.org, doubled by Bodhi Climbing. Thus, we may transfer a total of CHF 280.- to ClimbAID.org for assistance to their Lebanon project.

As always, we look back on a wonderful day at Magic Wood and look forward to next year
