Rebekka Stotz turns his back on competition climbing

Two weeks ago, Rebekka Stotz drew the red competition shirt of the Swiss national team for the last time at the Studio Bloc Masters in Pfungstadt (GER) and provided the 15. Final rank for the best Swiss result. After 11 years in the SAC Swiss Climbing Team, Rebekka decided to renounce international competitions in the future.

The acting Vice-Swiss champion in bouldering did not find it easy to say goodbye to international competitive sport. 2008 denied the 26 year-old her first season in the Swiss team.

36 World Cup missions

During her career, Stotz took a place in the 14 in the World Cup 20. 2014 she was at the World Championships in the Spanish Gijon 13. in the Lead and moved in the same year at the home World Cup in Grindelwald in the Boulder finals. Other highlights include:

  • 2018: Vice Swiss champion title in bouldering
  • 2017: Vice Swiss Champion title in Lead
  • 2015: Place 13 Lead World Cup Stavanger (NOR)
  • 2013: Rank 8 Boulder World Cup Log Dragomer (SLO)

Further education and rock climbing in focus

During the eleven years Stotz was not spared injury. 2016 crashed her while rock climbing, injuring her fore and midfoot. An operation and longer competition break were the consequences. A return to the international competition circus was planned for the second half last season. Everything went according to plan, but the complaints during walking and in everyday life increased so much that in August 2018 a further operation was necessary instead of the climbing competitions. Although the Urdorferin thereafter made every effort to get back their old form, the return proved to be somewhat more difficult than originally thought in addition to their full-time position as a physiotherapist.

Is in the future often found on rock: Rebekka Stotz

However, her resignation from the national team does not mean that Rebekka Stotz will completely turn his back on sport climbing. Because she loves this sport too much. In the future, your projects will focus on climbing out on the rocks and at national competitions, we will certainly find Rebekka from time to time as a participant.

We wish the budding sports physiotherapist all the best for her future!
