Nils Favre climbs 8b in the Bernese Boulder area Lindental

Nils Favre paid a visit to the Lindental and climbs the 8b Boulder in the Berner Boulder area Merlin et la Bete (8b).

At least since the 30-meter-long 8c boulder traverse E la nave va by Fred Nicole in the year 1994 the Lindental is no longer a secret climbing spot. Nevertheless, the big onslaught was still missing. In the year 2009, the local climbing community found a solution with the authorities and thus a peaceful coexistence between climbing sports and nature conservation. Because the holes and heels of the immense sandstone bar are not only popular with climbers, but also with brooding birds. Since 2009 there is a half-yearly ban on access between 1. February and 30. June. More on that Website of the Department of Economics Bern.

Visit of numerous strong athletes

Since the regulation with the canton and the publication on www.bimano.ch (today bimano app) the number of visitors has increased. Not only urban Bern and people from the area used the mostly vertical to overhanging bouldering area. Also foreign athletes and those from abroad visited the Lindental. Lastly, Nils Favre takes care of the ascent of Merlin et la Bete (8b) for headlines. Nils comments on the inspection with the following words: “I spent only one day on this area many years ago then yesterday and today. There is a lot of interesting mouvs and sequences, I climbed a few of the logical straight lines around 7c-8a then choose the best sequence I can find in my opinion including a big crossing mouv. It's an extension of "Beasties, 8a +" i climbed two tries before! Even if it's more gym climbing it was really cool to be outdoor with friends! "
