Petra Klingler and Dimitri Vogt secure bouldering championship title 2021

At the Swiss Bouldering Championships last weekend in Pratteln, the two elite athletes Petra Klingler and Dimitri Vogt prevailed and climbed to the top of the podium. In the U18 category, the 2021 Swiss bouldering champions are Lena Schenkel and Louis Guignard.

defending champion Petra Klingler (Bonstetten ZH) started today's championship competition in the bouldering hall B2 Boulders & Bar in Pratteln with five tops and finished first after qualifying.

Decision on the last final boulder

In the final, the decision was only made on the fourth and last boulder. Before Petra Klingler was the last athlete to start, she achieved only one Andrea Kümin (Winkel ZH) took the fourth top grip and took first place with a final result of three tops and three zones. Klingler, who had two tops and three zones on the account after three boulders, had to solve the fourth problem in order to win. And she succeeded in four attempts.

With a difference of one zone to the runner-up Andrea Kümin, Petra Klingler secured the Swiss championship title in her favorite bouldering discipline for the fourth time in a row. Sofya Yokoyama (role VD) came third.

Dimitri Vogt strong in the final round

All finalists of the elite men cracked the five boulders in the qualification, Sascha Lehmann (Burgdorf BE) was the only one to solve all problems on the first attempt and led the interim rankings.

In the final took over Dimitri Vogt (Biel BE), who qualified fifth for the final round, quickly took the lead and, thanks to a total of two tops and four zones, he celebrated his first Swiss bouldering title at the end of the competition.

Dylan Chuat (Vernayaz GE), who was the only athlete to top the last two boulders, secured second place at the last minute. Third was the youngest finalist Nino Gruenenfelder (Baar ZG). Lehmann just missed the podium in fourth.

U18 gold medal for Lena Schenkel and Louis Guignard

In the final of the six best U18 athletes, only Lena Schenkel (Thonex GE) and Ilia Wieland (Chur GR) topped all four boulders. Lena Schenkel needed three attempts less than her colleague for the four tops and thus secured the Swiss championship title from Ilia Wieland. Sybille Berger (Bolligen BE) came in third.

In the U18 men’s class, Louis Guignard (Zurich ZH) and Yan Jakob (Belpberg BE) took the top two places after qualifying. This result shouldn't change in the final either. Louis Guignard was the only one who found an answer to all four final boulders and won the gold medal with ease. With three tops and four zones, Yan Jakob secured the runner-up Swiss title. Silas Matzer (Thal SG) came third.

The SportXX Swiss Climbing Cup 2021 goes into the next round on July 3 with the Swiss Speed ​​Championships in Villars-sur-Ollon.
