Adam Ondra and Chaehyun Seo unbeatable: Victory in Xiamen

Adam Ondra and Chaehyun Seo confidently won the third IFSC World Cup of the season on Chinese soil.

It was a crazy semi-final in Xiamen. Three athletes (Alberto Ginés Lopez, Jesse Grupper and Adam Ondra) shared the second place, the sixth Zwischenrangierung occupied Sean Bailey and Taisei Homma. The tension was correspondingly high in the final.

The Japanese Tomoa Narasaki, who just narrowly entered the final, started with an incredible performance in the last round. In less than three minutes he topped the final route. Already had to be feared that the final route was too screwed. But Sean bailey proved the opposite, he was at the point 23 + already over.

As the frontrunner in the overall leaderboard, Adam Ondra completed his final run by requesting spectators to cheer him on before he clipped his last hook and secured his third gold medal of the season.

In the semifinal of the ladies there was also a double occupancy of a rank. Janja Garnbret and Chaehyun Seo Both managed the top of the route and shared the first intermediate rank. The rear ranks in the final feeder occupied Lucka Rakovec (Slovenia) and the Japanese Ai Mori.

Lucka Rakovec started as the first athlete in the final and narrowly missed the last grip. The first to get a top was Jain Kim. The entire route climbed beside her as well Janja Garnbret and Chaehyun Seo. The latter was the one who won the competition and won the gold medal. With her fourth gold medal in 2019, Chaehyun is the undisputed season overall winner.
