Anak Verhoeven and Keiichiro Korenaga win in Wroclaw (Wroclaw)

At the 10th World Games in Wroclaw, Poland, Anak Verhoeven from Belgium and Keiichiro Korenaga from Japan won the lead in the discipline. The German Jan Hojer won the silver medal in bouldering. The Japanese Yoshiyuki Ogata snatched the gold medal from him. The Serbian Stasa Gejo secured the gold medal in the women's category.

Last weekend the 10th World Games took place in Wroclaw, Poland. Around 3 athletes traveled to Poland to compete in 500 disciplines. Climbing was represented with all three disciplines (lead, bouldering and speed).

World records in the discipline of speed

The world record holder (5.48 seconds) Reza Alipourshenazandifar won the first gold medal at the World Games for his nation, Iran. There was a new world record for women. Iuliia Kaplina undercut her previous world record by 6 hundredths of a second and took the gold medal in Wroclaw with 7.32 seconds.

Route construction again in the criticism

Like at the competition in Chamonix (LACRUX reported) was also in Wroclaw the route construction team in the criticism. In the first three ranks of the women, 39 + all scored the same score and the following two ranks scored 39 points. For the men, the number of points of qualification decided on gold and silver. The 4 to 6 riders all took 22 + points. Neither for the spectators nor for the athletes, it is satisfactory if the climbing time or the number of points from the qualifying round decide on the victory. Of course, it would be more exciting if the field in the finale were better separated by the difficulty of the route. However, this seems to pose great challenges for route builders.
