Barbara Zangerl climbs Green Spit - one of the most difficult crack routes in Europe

The 32-year-old Austrian Barbara Zangerl climbed the Green Spit crack route in the Valle Dell'Orco last week.

Green Spit is one of the most famous and most difficult crack routes in Europe. The route in Italian Valle Dell'Orco was set up in the XNUMXs by Roberto Perucca with green bolts.

In 2003 the Swiss removed Didier berthod the bolts and climbed the route for the first time on September 14th of the same year with previously attached mobile safety devices. Two years later Didier returned to the route and cleared it again, but this time he laid the securing points during the ascent.

A huge thank you to Didier Berthod, who inspires me a lot. I am super proud to have been able to climb Green Spit freely, what a line!

The ascent of the Green Spit route Didier berthod was shown in the movie First Ascent and has since attracted many strong climbers. However, there were few or no female candidates (?). That Babsi Zangerl as the first woman to visit Green Spit succeeds, not astonished.

The young woman from Vorarlberg is one of the best climbers in the world and is characterized by her versatility. She climbed big wall routes like Magic Mushroom or Zodiac im Yosemite Valley, Trad routes like Principle hope and Gondo crack and scored with Speed ​​Intégrale also a 9a sport climbing route.
