On October 17, 2019, Emma Twyford became the first British woman to climb at difficulty level 9a. She managed only the third ascent of the route The Big Bang on Lower Pen Trwyn in North Wales. The film The Big Bang tells the story behind the historical ascent.
As a Emma Twyford at the ledges of the route a little over two years ago The Big Bang struggled up to the anchor, she ended her three-year project planning phase and went down in the history books of British climbing. Named after the route, the film by David Petts follows Emma Twyford on her way to the ascent and shows the emotional moment of the ascent.
Clipping the deflector of the route was probably the best moment of my life.
