At the end of last year, the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC) dismissed its national coach Urs Stöcker. This although Stöcker led the national team extremely successful and the results of the athletes steadily increased. The release was apparently without justification, as Nik Leuthold reported in the Tagesanzeiger.
The termination now has an epilogue. Numerous athletes demanded in a worried letter the withdrawal of the decision. They support Urs Stoecker. In the criticism is Hanspeter Sigrist, the head of the performance port at the SAC. He abuses his power and will not lead in the interest of the cause, but to personal profiling Cédric Lachat, Assistant coach and successful Swiss athlete opposite the Tagesanzeiger says. Another athlete told the newspaper that Sigrist would not tolerate anybody in whose shadow he could guess.
SAC appoints independent commission for clarification
The SAC is now responding to criticism from the Swiss climbing scene and is setting up an independent commission to investigate the allegations against Hanspeter Sigrist. President Françoise Jaquet assures us that the appropriate conclusions will be drawn from the results.
