After a video episode about drilling a possible 9c route, Adam Ondra offers another insight into the craft of setting up a climbing route. This is about To tu ještě nebylo, the hardest route in Czech sandstone.
The northwest of the Czech Republic is known for its sandstone climbing areas. While in many climbing gardens in Europe it is common practice to drill the route from above, there is a clear ethic in this special area: “Ground-up” is established, i.e. from the bottom up. This requires a difficult craft with hooks and auxiliary holes. See for yourself.
