Last weekend, the elite met in sport climbing in the Italian city of Arco. Slovenian Janja Garnbret and Austrian Jakob Schubert took home the victory.
In Arco, the usual suspects were in first to third place. The young Swiss Sascha Lehmann caused a surprise. For the second time in a row he made it into the final and finished sixth in Arco. The Belgian Anak Verhoeven repeated her result of the last lead competition, a bronze medal. The Austrian Jessica Pilz also had a déjà vu: Like a week ago, she won the silver medal in Arco. Janja Garnbret from Slovenia was once again in a class of her own. In July alone, she was on top of the winners' podium at an IFSC World Cup three times - including in Arco.
Domen Skovic slips off the pace and in third place
Domen Skovic wanted to improve his performance after finishing third in Briançon. Until halfway through the final route, the Slovenian showed a great performance, but slipped when he hung up an exe, which abruptly broke his gold medal dreams and ended up in third place. The Italian Stefano Ghisolfi was also in the race for the gold medal. In Arco it was only overtaken by the Austrian Jakob Schubert. “I am super happy with my performance today. The biggest event of the year is still ahead, with the competition in Innsbruck. I very much hope that I will be able to bring the same performance to the wall there again ”, says the Arco winner Jakob Schubert.
