Mario Heller crosses Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau in new record time

It seems the Season of speed records to be. The latest news reaches us from 30 year-old Mario Heller. He passed the 20. August the triumvirate Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau in 10 hours and 14 minutes.

It was Nicolas Hojac, who last year announced the speed ascent of the three Bernese peaks Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. He passed the trilogy in 11 hours and 43 minutes. In the descent Nicolas used a light paraglider. In the same way, Mario Heller attacked the crossing and posted on the 20. August set a new record.

Perfect conditions for exceeding

“The conditions at the three peaks were great, except on the slabs at the inner Rottal ridge. The plates were still wet, but luckily they weren't frozen, ”explains Mario in an interview. “The wind on the peaks was also quite ok, even if, contrary to the forecast, it blew stronger from the east,” he continues.

Start in 40 degree edge

As Mario further explains, the biggest challenge at the start was on the Eiger-West flank. “It has a lot of loose stones and the terrain is very steep at around 40 degrees. I was only able to start thanks to the good updraft, ”said Mario. "There wasn't a really tricky situation when it was exceeded."
