No hope for David Lama, Hansjörg Auer and Jess Roskelley

Anyone reading yesterday's reports (see below) could guess that there was not much hope. Today the parents of David Lama and the sponsor of the three athletes - The North Face - published a statement on instagram in which they talk about the loss of David Lama, Hansjörg Auer and Jess Roskelley.

David lived for the mountains and his passion for climbing and mountaineering shaped and accompanied us as a family. He always followed his path and lived his dream. We will accept what has happened as part of it.⁣ ⠀
⁣⠀
We appreciate the many positive words and thoughts from near and far, and we ask for your understanding that there will be no further comments from us. Rather, we ask David to remember his joie de vivre, his vigor and the view of his beloved mountains. ⁣⠀
⁣⠀
We include the families of Hansjörg and Jess in our thoughts.

According to recent reports David Lama, Hansjörg Auer and the American Jess Roskelley was spilled on Wednesday in Canada by an avalanche. There is no sign of life for the three alpinists yet.

First, the Tiroler Tageszeitung (TT) published a report about the possible misfortune of the Austrian alpinists David Lama and Hansjörg Auerwho were traveling with American Jess Roskelley. This Thursday followed a message in the American newspaper The Spokesman Review. In it the father of the American Jess Roskelley is quoted.

"I haven't heard from him and I don't think the three survived the avalanche."

John Roskelley

First sighting flights of the local rescue unit confirmed large avalanche declines and the sighting of mountaineering equipment and a half-buried person.

According to John Roskelley, the three mountaineers were on Route 16 at Howse Peak.

“It's one of those routes where you need the right conditions, otherwise the tour will be a nightmare. And so it happened in this case. "
