Robert Jasper Climbs New Route on Eiger Rope Solo: Meltdown

The German professional alpinist Robert Jasper manages a Neutour in the right part of the Eiger North Face: Meltdown (7a +). He made the route single-handedly and secured himself (Rope solo style).

Robert Jasper is a well-known guest in the Eiger North Face. For the first time he climbed through the imposing Wandflucht at the age of 17 years (1985). 1999, together with his wife Daniela Jasper, opened the hardest route of the time Eigernordwand, Symphonie d'liberté (8a).

In preparation for his upcoming Patagonia-Trip pulled it Robert again to Grindelwald. His goal: the redpoint ascent in the Rope-Solo style of a new route on the Eiger.

Climbing alone gives me peace and leads to a concentration level like nothing else. There is only the here and now. And the typical sound of the cow bells of the Alps below the wall.

Last year was the Eigernordwand ice-free for the first time, what Robert Jasper inspired by the naming of his new route: Meltdown.

"In addition to the decision-makers of the economy and in politics, every single one of us is asked! I think we should take personal steps against climate change, otherwise it will be too late, not only for our mountains but also for our future! "
