Spanish bouldering area Hoya Moros is for sale

One of the best climbing and bouldering areas in Spain, Hoya Moros, is for sale. There is therefore a risk that access could be restricted or prohibited. A petition has now been launched.

The climbing and bouldering area Hoya Moros is located at an altitude of 2 meters above sea level and is a popular summer area. The area, about three hours away from Madrid, has over 000 bouldering problems in the best granite up to 1c and numerous multi-pitch tours with a height of up to 000 meters.

The area, also known as Sierra de Candelario, is not only popular with climbers, but is also frequently visited by hikers, mountain bikers or ski tourers. It is part of the so-called European Red Natur 2000 Network and is considered a region worth protecting.

Until now, the 500-hectare Hoya Moros area was owned by people who gave free access. However, the area is now for sale, which could restrict free access or even make it impossible.

A petition has now been launched to save the area. A meeting between the coalition and the local government will take place next week. It is therefore all the more important to sign the petition quickly.
