The Swiss Katherine Choong rocks in Oliana

The Swiss top climber Katherine Choong, like many other top athletes, devotes herself to the Spanish rocks, while in the more northerly regions the snow and the sub-zero temperatures bring joy to ski tourers.

The 25-year-old Jurassian climbs on the Spanish rock roller in Oliana Mind control and Fish Eye two 8c routes within just four days. Mind Control was initially traded as 8c +, but was later devalued, which Katherine also confirms. After finding a solution to the crux, she climbed the route in a day. “That speaks more in favor of an 8c. Although it has to be said that the route is exactly my style - no really hard movements, just perseverance. Sure, the route was 50 meters long and the fight ended with a lot of joy, ”comments Katherine.

Mon Dieu onsight

As if the ascent of two 8c routes were not respectable enough, Katherine climbed an 8a + onsight with Mon Dieu. Katherine is still climbing in Spain and France until the end of March and will then return to Switzerland. Because an internship as a lawyer is waiting there. The 25-year-old has just completed her law studies.
