The Lorüns climbing area is threatened - petition launched

The two professional climbers Barbara Zangerl and Jacopo Larcher have launched a petition to save the Lorüns climbing area. The area is located on the property of Steinbruch Lorüns GmbH.

Successful at the end of last year Jacopo Larcher the first free ascent of an old climbing legend project Beat Kammerlander. The one rated 9a gave Jacopo the name at the time explosive - a wink with the fence post.

Because the route in the Lorünser Wändle area is on the property of Steinbruch Lorüns GmbH. And this is exactly where the problem begins, because this company filed a deforestation application last year, causing an uproar in the climbing scene.

Babsi and Jacopo launch petition

The area is the meeting point of the international climbing scene and is one of the most beautiful sport climbing areas in Austria. Hikers, climbers and outdoor enthusiasts will find quick access to sporty compensation or a place to relax here.

The future of the area has been on the brink for a long time and the situation is not getting better.

Should the mining company get serious, a large part of the routes / sectors would be affected by the mining. To counteract this, Babsi Zangerl and her partner Jacopo launched a petition.

Note: On April 1, 2021, LACRUX and Actiontalk TV reported that the Céüse sport climbing area was in danger. That was a duck. In this case it is a real threat!
