Developed for the gym: the La Sportiva Theory climbing shoe

For many, winter time means indoor time. And like climbing itself, routes in modern climbing facilities are constantly evolving. Wide volumes and dynamic movements can be found more and more often - La Sportiva has developed a special climbing shoe for precisely this type of artificial climbing route: The Theory.

A contribution by Fabian Reichle - Bächli Bergsport

Modern climbing halls rely on specific climbing movements. Gone are the days of quick-hack routes, filigree step technology is now a must for plastic as well. That has La Sportiva recognized and therefore the dem Theory donated a sole that encompasses the entire shoe. This means that there are no corners and edges, the contact surface of the foot is increased, there is more friction - even on large, smooth volumes.

The reinforced rubber compound on the tip of the toe also ensures a solid step. Whereas the heel has a reduced sole volume, to be precise heel hooks to put.

In short: the Theory holds on to virtually all modern steps and holds that are screwed into the climbing hall. And even if the shoe is robust and designed for power, it remains sensitive. So you can swing like monkeys through the hall - by the way, that is not meant in a derogatory way.

The theory is precise when queuing and sensitive when hooking.

When developing the theory, La Sportiva was inspired by the movements and grasping behavior of gorillas. Actually clever, considering how monkeys do gymnastics in the vertical.
