Climbing without rope and safety points: Deep Water Soloing
In the Deep Water Soloing, DWS for short, is climbed on a wall on the bank of a body of water without a fuse. Who climbs the route or finished with his strength, who jumps into the cool water. The most well-known destination for this climbing discipline is the Spanish island Majorca in the Mediterranean Sea. But even in Switzerland, purists can indulge in climbing over the water. At Sundlauenen, near the Beatus Caves tourist attraction, there is a rock bar offering exciting DWS trails. Everyone can find their project from 5c to 7c. Highly recommended is the route Laktator (7a). Details and topographic information are listed below.
That's what you need for a day deep water soloing action at Sundlauenen
For deep water soloing you need relatively little material. We recommend two pairs climbing Shoes take with you to let them alternately dry in the sun. Ideally, they are pure leather shoes. Of course, the magnesium must not be missing. We recommend a combination of liquid magnesium and normal Magnesium in powder form, To stow all the material it takes one waterproof bag. When properly rolled up, this also serves as a lifebuoy for emergencies. To get to the rock more or less comfortably - that is, dry - a rubber or paddle boat is recommended.
Pro tip: Magnesium bags can be sewn from old Ikea sacks and dry quickly. Alternatively, a thick layer liquid magnesium be rubbed on the arms, which then serves as a “magnesium reserve” while climbing.
