Boulder World Cup in Vail (Colorado) 2019: livestream and info

After a break of almost three weeks, the best boulderers in the world will be heading for sunny Colorado: the sixth and last bouldering World Cup of the 2019 season will be held in Vail (USA) today and Saturday.

The final of the series is not just about winning the day, it's also the last chance to replenish the overall score. In addition, another factor plays an important role in the Olympic qualification year: Vail offers the Olympic aspirants from all over the world the last chance to collect valuable points for the qualification in bouldering. The coaches of the DAV team know this and take the currently seven strongest athletes into the land of unlimited possibilities.

Germany is sending in the race for Messrs Jan Hojer, Yannick Flohé, Alex Megos and Philipp Martin. Alma Bestvater, Hannah Meul and Afra Hönig compete for women. Austria Berit Schwaiger, Johanna Färber, Laura Stöckler, Alfons Dornauer, Jan-Luca Posch also participate. Switzerland does not send athletes to Vail.

Janja Garnbret secures the overall World Cup prematurely

Even if the Slovenian Janja Garnbret once again demonstrated her unique class in Munich and was able to take home the overall victory of the World Cup series early with five wins in five competitions, it remains exciting: Everything seems to be possible in the following places. Fanny Gibert (FRA) and Akyo Noguchi (JPN) have often come dangerously close to the winner and will show one last time what they are made of. But for everyone else it means sticking to it again - after all, more than just the World Cup is at stake. Exactly: The last bouldering competition also offers another opportunity to collect important points for the Olympic qualification. So no reason to put your hands on your lap.

The race is still open for the men

Although he had to hand over the victory in the Munich Olympic Stadium to Jakob Schubert (AUT), Adam Ondra (CZE) remains in the leading position in the overall ranking. Closely followed by Tomoa Narasaki (JPN). The two athletes are only separated by a little more than 20 points. And that although the Japanese had to sit out at the last World Cup - the Japanese team had to contest a national competition. Both superstars have so far recorded one victory on their accounts. So in the USA there is a showdown of this constant head-to-head race.

Nevertheless, this calculation should not be made without the runners-up: Aleksey Rubtsov (RUS) and Anze Peharc (SLO) are also highly motivated to catch up and have already proven several times that they should not be underestimated. So nothing has been decided for the men.
