Balanced food on the rock: Thanks to Esbit thermal containers

Whether the sandwich from the gas station, the coffee to go or the leftovers in the Tupperware box: Fast food and plastic are omnipresent in our (climbing) everyday life. With the Sculptor, Esbit offers a durable thermal container made of stainless steel that reliably keeps food warm for the climbing day and at the same time helps to reduce the flood of plastic. And: You don't always have to eat bread, cheese and meat on the rock.

Nutrition during a day of climbing or a mountain adventure can be viewed from different perspectives: in terms of your own health and, of course, in terms of the impact on the environment. We have found a product with which you can kill two birds with one stone and do something good not only for yourself but also for the planet: thermal food containers from Esbit.

The closure is 100% tight. This is also reflected in the fact that the closure can only be opened with great effort without pressing the pressure release button.

Two courses in the Esbit thermal container instead of bread and sausage

20:17 p.m. A colorful bouquet of vegetables is sizzling in the frying pan. Seasoned with a little pepper and salt and provided with freshly cut chives, the menu is ready to be filled. The couscous salad has also become a real eye-catcher and arouses anticipation for tomorrow's trip.

20:23 p.m. The openings of the Esbit thermal containers are deliberately kept large to make filling easier. However, the attempt to swing the menu straight from the frying pan into the stainless steel container is not 100 percent successful. But with a spoon and a little patience it works perfectly.

A little hint: If you preheat your Sculptor with hot water for a few minutes before you put your food in it, you increase the heat retention capacity, or probably come closest to the values specified by Esbit.

Esbit thermal container lid as a plate
The double-walled food containers from Esbit make it possible to prepare something healthy at home and enjoy it warm on the rock.

Served up in no time

12:10 p.m. The first boulder problems are solved, the forearms pumped. The sharp rock has already taken its toll on the skin and your stomach is growling. Time for a break. Instead of the usual Vesper lunch with bread, cheese and cold cuts, a balanced two-course meal is waiting to be eaten.

12:15 p.m. Since we parked our bus not far from the boulder, it was served quickly. The stainless steel thermal boxes stayed 100 percent leak-proof, even if they didn't always stand upright in the backpack.

12:18 p.m. Since the lid can be used as a bowl or plate at the same time, it is served quickly. And our menu is still really warm, that's a pleasure. Good Appetite.

We used the cutlery from the bus. Those who cannot or do not want to do this will find a wide range of plastic-free cutlery at Sea to Summit, for example the ultra-light aluminum cutlery Alphalight Cutlery or the titanium variant Titanium Cutlery.

If the lids are used as plates, it is worth washing them out briefly before assembling, if possible. This minimizes the later cleaning effort, as neither food leftovers nor liquids smear the closure.

You don't need any dishes: the lids can be used as bowls.

High quality and suitable for everyday use

16.30 o'clock. Drive home, time for a conclusion. The double-walled Sculptor thermal containers from Esbit are produced to a very high standard and reliably keep things warm or hot. The manufacturer explicitly recommends transporting the insulated containers in an upright position. We could not always ensure this and yet nothing has ever leaked.

If you carry several containers like we do, you have to plan a little more space than usual. With an unladen weight of 530 grams, the 750 milliliter version, for example, is probably heavier than the usual fast food. You can take a balanced lunch menu with you to the rock and enjoy it warm.

The temperature does not seem so elementary on a hot summer day. But the idea of being able to sip a hot soup or enjoy a warm stew on a ski tour is very tempting.

Alternative to disposable packaging at take-away

In general, the area of application for Esbit thermal containers must and may be considered much further. Especially when it comes to setting a sign against the plastic flood, the Sculptor can also be used in the office or directly at the takeaway.
