CAMP informs that the screws connecting the shaft and axe head of the X-DREAM, X-DREAM TOTAL DRY and X-ALL MOUNTAIN ice tools have partially come loose; this affects products manufactured after October 2024.
It has been observed that the screw and nut on these ice tools can seize up after repeated tightening and loosening. The resulting material wear can cause the screw to loosen during use. As a result, the shaft and device head can separate, which can lead to a fall and consequently to serious or even fatal injuries..
It is therefore strongly urged that the affected ice tools be discontinued immediately. and to replace the screws and nuts using the replacement kits we provide, or to return the products to CAMP for servicing.
Which ice-making equipment is affected?
The affected models come from these batches:
- X-DREAM 3570 – Batches: 10/24, 07/25, 10/25, 12/25
- X-DREAM TOTAL DRY 3609 – Batches: 10/24, 07/25, 11/25
- X-ALL MOUNTAIN Hammer 3630 – Batches: 10/24, 09/25
- X-ALL MOUNTAIN Adze 3631 – Batches: 10/24, 09/25
- X-BOLT 3641
The following models are not affected:
- X-DREAM 2864C
- X-DREAM ALPINE 2865C
- X-ALL MOUNTAIN Hammer 2990C
- X-ALL MOUNTAIN Adze 2991C
How can I tell if my ice axe is affected?
- Identify the model and batch number of your ice machine.
- The batch number is located on one side of the shaft in the area with the CE marking, where no brand logo is affixed (see illustration in the official recall).
What can I do if my ice axe is affected?
- Please contact us via this form contact CAMP customer service and choose one of the following options:
- Request for a replacement kit containing two screws, two nuts, an Allen key and instructions for use.
- CAMP customer service will contact you to arrange the return and repair of your ice machine.
What measures has CAMP taken?
CAMP has developed a technical solution using new materials and surface treatments to eliminate the problem of seizing, thereby increasing the long-term reliability of the fastening system. This change restores the product to the safety standards intended for it.
For used or borrowed ice axes, please check whether the screws and nuts have already been replaced and thus meet the safety requirements:
The new screw can be identified by a printed batch number. The defective screw has no batch number printed on it. The new nut is also blackThese features indicate that the updated components have already been installed.
