Jain Kim: A legend's start to the season

In Madrid In addition to many familiar faces from the current season, there will also be a few newcomers – including Spain’s Geila Macià Martín, who last weekend in Chamonix played her first World Cup final.

In addition, a registration from South Korea creates a special feeling of nostalgia: Jain Kim will be appearing on the World Cup stage for the first time this season. The 36-year-old is one of the absolute legends in competitive climbing and bouldering and has participated in more than 2002 IFSC events since 200.

If you add up all of Jain Kim’s medals in both disciplines, you get over 60 – about half of them gold medals in LeadAfter the birth of her daughter in 2021, the Korean has been competing in several Lead World Cups since 2023. She showed great potential with five final appearances – and a gold medal in Chamonix 2023 – that it can still be firmly reckoned with.

Spain shows strong presence in first home World Cup

Overall, the Spanish host country has the largest national team in Madrid. With 14 athletes, more Spaniards are registered for a Lead World Cup than probably ever before, including the Olympic champion from Tokyo and the runner-up from Chamonix, Alberto Gines Lopez.

France also has a strong presence with starters such as Zélia and Leo Avezou as well as Japan with, among others, Sorato Anraku, Neo Suzuki and Miho Nonaka.

Italy is also sending numerous lead specialists to Madrid with ten athletes, including Stefano Ghisolfi, Filip Schenk and Laura RogoraTeam South Korea is also represented with many participants.

These athletes compete for Team Germany

From the German team, 19-year-old Otto Reiter from Mannheim will also start in his first Lead World Cup and will be supported by teammate Christoph Hanke, Yannick Flohe, Sebastian Halenke and Yannick Nagel.
