David Bermudez Carbonell (15) has a strong start into the new year: He succeeds in two hard routes, La Bongada (8c+/9a) and (H)as de-cotaciones (8c+) in just a few attempts.
Last year we first reported on the young Spanish talent David Bermudez Carbonell reported when he was Victimas Perez the second 9a route of his career. There were to be two more routes at this grade before Bermudez took a short break over the Christmas holidays.
Quite a challenge for endurance in the upper part and the knee clamp hurt quite a bit.
Shortly before the turn of the year he was back in the Espadelles sector in Margalef and climbed the route La Bongada (8c+/9a). After only five days of planning, he managed to complete the climb, after failing on the last difficult move in three attempts.
Inspired by his success in Margalef, Bermudez returned home and climbed the route (H)as de-cotaciones (8c+). With one attempt two years ago and three at the end of 2024, the route was no longer uncharted territory. And so he only needed three more go's before he could redpoint the route.
(H)as de-cotaciones is the best 8c+ I've ever climbed and quite hard for the grade.
