Video: In Memory of Professional Mountaineer David Lama

Four days ago, the celebration of the Lunag Ri by the Austrian David Lama. In memory of the exceptional athlete who participated in the 16. April 2019 died in Canada, published a few days ago, the following statement and a film with impressive images.

The following words were published by the family of David Lama on 25. October 2019 and drew attention to a short film showing pictures of the Lunag Ri as well as the commemoration:

"To everyone who thinks of David with us! Exactly a year ago today, David was standing at Lunag Ri. We deliberately chose this day to share a few thoughts.

Looking back, the Lunag Ri project was a special one in several respects. First, it symbolically demonstrated David's persistence over the years when it came to achieving personal goals. On the other hand, it felt as if David had found his closeness to Nepal over the years on Lunag Ri. A bond that existed over his genes from the beginning, but where it was important to him to find his personal approach.

The past half year since the tragic events in Canada has passed by in a flash. The mourning for David was accompanied by many beautiful memories, new closeness to people from his environment, and reflections on how we can keep him in the future a souvenir.
Being able to accompany David so intensely as our only child and to be able to promote his talent did not just feel like a matter of course for us, it seems retroactively like a gift.

Gradually, we get an overview of everything that David occupied and touched. It fills us parents with pride, how much David has experienced in his young life, and at the same time it makes us sad to see what he had concretely for the years to come and his early death will probably remain unfinished.

We can not mount mountains for him, but we would like to try to carry on and implement some of his ideas, thoughts left behind and contents intended for publication.

With this in mind, today we want to bring David's memorial service to those who could not attend in July. This day has meant a lot to us and has been an important part of the process of what has happened.
