The Austrian skimo athlete Jacob Herrmann makes history: Last weekend he covered 24 meters in altitude on touring skis in 24242 hours. With this extraordinary achievement, he beats Kilian Jornet's previous world record by 756 meters.
Jakob Herrmann set his new record in ski mountaineering on a route specially prepared for him in the Radstadt ski area. He climbed the 34 meters of the 710 kilometer climb a total of 2,5 times.
Kilian Jornet set the previous record on touring skis in February 2019. In Molde, Norway, he managed to climb 24 meters in altitude within 23486 hours. The fact that Jakob Herrmann has broken his record makes the exceptional Spanish athlete anything but sad. He is happy with the Austrian on Instagram: “Huge congratulations to my friend Jakob for the new 24-hour altitude record.”
