Climbing World Cup Xiamen 2019 - information and live stream

The IFSC World Cup returns to China for the third time this year. From the 18. to 20. October 2019 Xiamen hosts both speed and lead competitions.

It has been a few months since the last speed competition took place in Chamonix. France's Bassa Mawam is currently at the top of the men's speed rankings and is poised to defend his victory in the 2018 speed season. However, the two Russians Vladislav Deulin and Dmitrij Timofeev are not far behind him.

After China's YiLing Song set a new world record in women's speed climbing earlier this year, it performed strongly throughout the season and is at the top of the overall women's ranking. Will she be able to beat the reigning Speed World Cup winner from 2018, Anouck Jaubert in front of a home crowd, to decide the season for herself?

Open field in the discipline Lead

With two competitions still outstanding in 2019, the athletes remain hopeful of landing on the podium for the whole season. The newcomer Chaehyun Seo from Korea holds first place on the overall podium for the time being. Another win in Xiamen would cement their win of the season ahead of the final event of the year. After a disappointing result in her home country in September, the Slovenian will Janja Garnbret next to their compatriots Mia Krampl and Lucka Rakovec in Xiamen. The three currently occupy second, third and fourth place in the ranking.

After just one competition (Kranj) jumped Adam Ondra from seventh to first place. There Alexander Megos. does not compete in Xiamen, the top places are open. The battle for the season title remains close, however, and a gold medal win in the penultimate lead competition could prove to be decisive for a podium finish in the overall standings.
