Zoé Egli finished second at the European Youth Cup in Ostermundigen

The Swiss junior Zoé Egli climbed to second place in the lead discipline at the European Youth Cup in Ostermundigen. With Liv Egli, Joëlle Niederberger, Jonas Utelli, Noé Looser and Jil Couture, five other young Swiss athletes made it to the finals on Sunday.

The fourth stop of this year's European Youth Cup took Europe's best young sport climbers to the O'BLOC bouldering and climbing hall in Ostermundigen. 163 athletes between the ages of 14 and 19 fought for medals in the lead discipline for two days.

Zoé Egli in top form

After her 2nd place at the European Youth Cup in Imst (AUT) last weekend, the junior Zoé Egli (Hünibach BE) also showed her very good form at the home competition in Ostermundigen. The 19-year-old finished the qualification on Saturday in 3rd place and also impressed in the final on Sunday afternoon. Very little was missing for the win, because the Swiss woman reached a height of 22, the winner Camille Pouget (FRA) a final height of 22+.

My goal is always to give my best. Because it is my last junior year, I want to enjoy the competitions as much as possible. The fact that I manage the rounds so well and that I have enough for a medal is of course great.

Zoé Egli

Like a week ago in Imst, Zoé Egli and her sister Liv Egli, Joëlle Niederberger (Oberhofen BE) and Jonas Utelli (Thun BE) also climbed into the junior final. Liv Egli finished the competition in a good 5th place, Joëlle Niederberger came in seventh. Jonas Utelli achieved the best result of the Swiss men in 7th place.

Noé Looser and Jil Couture again in the final

The two Youth B athletes Noé Looser (Grabs SG) and Jil Couture (Biel BE), who celebrated their first international medals a week ago, also built on their good performances and climbed among the ten finalists in Ostermundigen.

Unfortunately, it wasn't quite enough for the winner's podium this time. Noé Looser was fifth, Jil Couture sixth. The renewed entry into a final is for both of them further confirmation of their good form.
