The biggest drug discovery in the history of climbing

In 1977 a plane crashed in the climbing mecca of Yosemite Valley - with a special cargo: marijuana. In the film Valley Uprising, Reel Rock tells what the crash and drug discovery has to do with climbing.

In the 70s and 80s, Yosemite Valley was a climbing mecca and the center of life for many strong climbers. They lived the typical "dirtbag life" and their motto was "Sex, Drugs and Rock & Roll". At the same time, they regularly made headlines with difficult and daring first ascents on the high walls.

Ominous cargo plane from Colombia

However, one of the most spectacular events in the climbing history of Yosemite Valley did not take place on El Capitan or the other granite big walls, but on Lower Merced Pass Lake. A cargo plane from Colombia crashed there.

A climber's girlfriend at the time was working for a telephone company and during a phone conversation she heard of a mysterious plane crash in which huge amounts of marijuana were on board. What happened next is told in the following excerpt from the film Valley Uprising by Reel Rock.

On the occasion of the publication of the film excerpt from Valley Uprising, Reel Rock ordered the following limited edition t-shirts.
