Voluntary recall of Ortovox Litric avalanche airbags

Ortovox is voluntarily recalling all Ortovox Avabag Litric models (Avabag Litric Tour, Avabag Litric Freeride, Avabag Litric Zero) including the Zip-Ons. The recall only affects the electronic airbag models with Litric technology. Any mechanical Avabag models with a cartridge system are not affected.

Around four years ago, the Ortovox and Arc'teryx brands joined forces with the aim of developing an electronic avalanche airbag system that would set a new standard. The result: this liter system.

Technical problem

Now the teams became aware of a technical problem. In rare cases, this could affect the airbag's blower unit and thus reduce its protection. There is no danger from the Litric System itself.

For this reason, Ortovox is voluntarily recalling all Ortovox Avabag Litric models (Avabag Litric Tour, Avabag Litric Freeride, Avabag Litric Zero) including the Zip-Ons. Avabag Litric models purchased from a retailer can be returned accordingly. Customers who have purchased an Avabag Litric via the online shop will be contacted directly.

Litric avalanche airbags: Sale ended for 2022/23 season

The development process includes rigorous testing to not only meet industry standards, but often exceed them where technically possible. With close collaboration between the Ortovox and Arc'teryx development teams, the necessary time is now being invested to ensure that the Litric technology meets the high quality and performance standards that Ortovox and Arc'teryx are known for.

Both brands are therefore ending sales of all products with Litric technology for the 22/23 season and are aiming to resume sales for the 23/24 season.

Information about the recall available online

All information on the voluntary product recall and return is available on the website of Ortovox to find. The Ortovox service team can be reached via the service portal (subject: litric voluntary callback) if you have any questions.
