A total of 17 world championship titles were awarded at the IFSC Paraclimbing World Championships. 42-year-old Dominic Geisseler sensationally climbed to bronze and thus secured Switzerland's only precious metal. The Basel bidder has only been taking part in international competitions since this season. He reached the final in the AU3 category as the fourth best and climbed the third highest there.
I was flirting with the medal, but it's still a surprise that it worked out now. The number of participants in our category almost tripled and I didn't even know many of the athletes. Now I hold the medal in my hands. Incredible.

The two other Swiss finalists Sarah Longhi and Matthias Bärtschi just missed the podium in 4th place. “It was the greatest thing to be able to start in the final. For me this is a huge success. It hurts a bit that it was only half a train missing for the podium, »said the 37-year-old after the competition.
Team colleague Bärtschi also draws a positive conclusion: “It was fantastic for me that I was able to travel to the World Championships and then climb in the final. It would have been a bit presumptuous to expect a medal with so little competition experience."

From a German point of view, the 37-year-old Kevin Bartke was successful in the AU2 category on Thursday afternoon: he took the silver medal and was only beaten by the Norwegian Isak Ripman. The other three starters of the German paraclimbing team had to be satisfied with fourth place in the final rounds of their respective categories.
It could also have been gold after I was 1st in qualifying. Still, I'm happy that I won silver. It was just a nice feeling to be able to be part of this great event.

The Italian Matteo Zurloni won the world championship title and thus secured his qualification for Paris 2024. With his silver medal, the Chinese Long Jinbao is definitely going to take part in the next Olympic Games. Rahmad Adi Mulyono from Indonesia took bronze.
This is my first World Cup year and I'm over the moon that I did well in competition and qualified for the Olympics. I still can not believe it.

The Indonesian Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi prevailed in the women's category and clinched gold at the World Championships and an Olympic ticket. The American Emma Hunt secured silver and the second ticket. The world record holder from Poland, Aleksandra Miroslaw, had to settle for the bronze medal.
