Victory for Anne-Sophie Koller and Nils Favre at the Lead Swiss Championship 2018

190 athletes from all over Switzerland met on Saturday, 23. June in the bouldering and climbing hall O'Bloc in Ostermundigen, in order to identify among themselves the championship titles in bouldering (junior) and lead climbing (Elite and U18). Anne-Sophie Koller and Nils Favre secure the title of elite. Zoé Egli and Julien Clémence triumphed in the U18 category.

The Bächli Swiss Climbing Cup and the Mammut Youth Climbing Cup made 23 on Saturday. June Stop in one of the highest climbing halls in Europe, the O'Bloc in Ostermundigen. Around 200 athletes as well as numerous onlookers cavorted in the climbing gym just outside Bern.

Lead Master 2018: Anne-Sophie Koller

Anne-Sophie Koller and Nils Favre left 50 colleagues behind them. After the 52 elite athletes had contested the lead qualification indoors, the grand finale went to the outside wall. In the final of the top 6 women, Anne-Sophie Koller (Biel BE) and Petra Klingler (Bonstetten ZH) climbed exactly the same, which is why the results of the qualification had to bring the decision about gold and silver. Since Koller had topped the ranking after qualifying, she secured the title in front of the reigning Swiss bouldering champion Klingler. Jara Späte (Wolfhausen ZH) completed the podium in third place.

Valais Nils Favre wins the men's competition

The two strongest athletes, Nils Favre (Martigny VS) and Benjamin Blaser (Ried b. Kerzers FR), also climbed equally high in the men's final. Due to the better result after the qualification, the victory and thus the championship title went to Favre from western Switzerland. Third was Dimitri Vogt (Worben) from Bern, who had topped the interim rankings after qualifying.
