World record: 18-year-old Nima Rinji Sherpa climbs all 14 eight-thousanders

Nima Rinji Sherpa has set a world record. He is the youngest alpinist to have climbed all 14 eight-thousanders.

"Today I stood on the summit of my 14th eight-thousander," Nima Rinji Sherpa announced two days ago. It was the summit of Mount Shishapangma (8 m above sea level), which Nima Rinji Sherpa reached at 027:06.05 a.m., setting a new record. He is the youngest mountaineer to have climbed all 14 eight-thousanders recognized by the UIAA.

Under the motto "Sherpa Power," he dedicates his project to the younger generation of Sherpas. He wants to show that they are more than just porters; on the contrary, that they have the potential to be among the top mountaineers.

My generation thinks that the Sherpa life is for the uneducated and disadvantaged. I am here to change that perception with my project 'Sherpa Power'. We are more than climbers. We are the guardians of these mountains!
