German Bouldering Championships | All information & livestream

The best bouldering athletes will meet for the German Championships on March 27th and 28th. at Studio Bloc PfungstadtAll information about the starting field, schedule and livestream.

Important date to kick off the competition season

The German Championships are one of the most important national competitions of the season and also serve as an early indicator of performance for the upcoming competition year. For the athletes, the German Championships are therefore one of the last opportunities to evaluate their form before the start of the World Cups. The international World Climbing season begins in a few weeks with the first events in China.

In the lead-up to the German Championships, the state associations typically nominate their strongest talents from the state and regional championships. National team members and the two defending champions from the previous year usually have guaranteed starting places.

Strong starters: Will Lucia Dörffel defend her title?

A strong field of competitors will participate in the 2026 German Bouldering Championships. Among the women, the defending champion... Lucia Doerffel (DAV Chemnitz) is once again the favorite in the race.

But the strong competition is also traveling to Pfungstadt highly motivated: Afra honey (DAV Landshut) herself holds four German championship titles and showed at last year's international European Cup in Munich that she can beat the reigning German champion Dörffel. Also Hannah Meul (DAV Rheinland-Cologne), Florence Grünewald (DAV Kaiserslautern) and Anna Lechner (DAV Munich-Oberland) are internationally experienced athletes who have good chances of reaching the podium.

Our preview of Nuria Brockfeld (DAV Düsseldorf) will see a long-time bouldering and speed climbing athlete return to the national competition stage in 2026. After a four-year break, the 22-year-old secured the title of NRW state champion this year, thus qualifying for her fourth German Bouldering Championship.

Furthermore, promising young talents are coming into focus, including Paula Mayer-Vorfelder and Alisa Strigo (both DAV Munich-Oberland), Hannah Hattenbach (DAV Koblenz) or Ronja Witt (DAV Saxon Mountaineering Association).

Men: A large field with title ambitions

The reigning German champion will also be crowned champion of the men's team. Elias Arriagada Kruger attempting to defend his title. He will face contenders such as... Leave by suitor (DAV Alpine Club Hannover) or Philipp Martin (DAV Allgäu-Kempten), who won the competitions in 2022 and 2020 respectively. Also Tim Wuerthner (DAV Würzburg), who won bronze at the German Championships last year, has registered again.

Our preview of Lucas Trandafir (DAV Regensburg) will be represented not only by the reigning vice-champion in bouldering, but also by a strong representative of the next generation. The 18-year-old is a regular participant in World Cups, and he reached the podium at the national level in 2024 and 2025.

Many athletes are at a similar performance level, which should make for a particularly dynamic competition.

Thorben Perry Bloem (DAV Braunschweig) should also be on your radar. The 21-year-old was very successful in speed climbing until a few years ago and has become a regular in bouldering competitions in recent years. At the 2025 World Championships in Seoul, he finished in 7th place, demonstrating that he can compete at the highest level.

This year's German Championships will also feature numerous up-and-coming athletes with national and international experience: darunter Emil Zimmermann (DAV Freiburg-Breisgau), Timo Ossig (DAV Allgäu-Kempten), Linus Raatz (DAV Alpine Club Berlin), Jonas Körner (DAV Braunschweig), Oscar Pongratz (DAV Braunschweig) and Finn Altemöller (DAV Rheinland-Cologne).
