This is how the participants are selected

Under the name 'Adidas Rockstars' and 'Ticket to Rockstars', the German sporting goods manufacturer has been organizing bouldering competitions for professionals and amateur athletes around the world since 2011. The series culminates in the international invitation event in Stuttgart, for which participants of national competitions (eg Japan, Russia) and regional grassroots events can qualify.

This is how the qualifier works on Adidas Rockstars

70 top athletes from more than 20 nations have been invited to Adidas Rockstars this year. You have to survive the qualification and the semi-final first. The top 6 women and men qualify for the grand finale on Saturday night, where they fight for the Superfinals in two rounds. There, the Top 2 compete against each other on the so-called "Superboulder", which was specially developed for the event. At the same time they climb an identical route next to each other and are only separated from each other by a screen. This exciting duel not only depends on your own abilities, but also on good nerves. The two super finalists can not see each other, but the reactions of the spectators can guess what is happening on the other side.
