Chris Sharma opens new DWS Masterpiece: Vision Quest (9a)

After more than thirty days of planning, spread over six months, Chris Sharma managed the first ascent of Vision Quest (9a) a few days ago. The Spaniard, who has adopted the route, is giving the DWS Mecca Mallorca another kingline.

Chris Sharma crowns his climbing year 2024 with the first ascent of VisionQuest (9a). With his latest creation, the Californian climbing professional adds another highlight to his portfolio of iconic DWS first ascents on the cliffs of Mallorca.

I had to dig deep into my bag of tricks and really give it my all for this line.

Vision Quest: Walking with Ups and Downs

Sharma invested more than 30 days over a period of six months in Vision Quest. On the way to the fall-free ascent, he experienced the whole spectrum of highs and lows. "It means a lot to me to add a new test piece to the collection of hard, epic DWS routes on Mallorca."

With world-famous lines such as Es Pontas, Alasha or Black Pearl Chris Sharma has been shaping the development of deep water soloing for almost two decades. And it seems that he is still passionate about discovering and developing new areas and routes.
