Mécanique Élémentaire (8B+): A success in installments

In 2017, Stasa Gejo visited the bouldering area of Fontainebleau for the first time. The 24-year-old was able to come along at the time Opium climb her first 8A. On the same block tried himself Melissa Le Nevé at that time on Mécanique Élémentaire, an impressive 8B+ traverse on downhill holes that shares the exit with Opium. Later, the French secured the first women's ascent of the 8B + boulder.

"At the time, Mécanique Élémentaire looked too futuristic to me."

That all changed when the powerful Serbian returned in 2021 and gave Mécanique Élémentaire a serious try for the first time. "I immediately fell in love with the line and was able to do all the moves," enthuses Stasa Gejo. Unfortunately, the weather thwarted her plans and prevented her from getting through.

Success came last week after 5 sessions where she had blown 6-XNUMX times on exit. It was a memorable fight that she will remember, said Stasa Gejo. «I climbed Mécanique Élémentaire with frozen fingers, pumped and exhausted.»
