Ski area expansions - do you need that?

Ski area expansions irretrievably destroy sensitive alpine habitats. The latest documentary film Vanishing Lines by the US outdoor specialist Patagonia raises awareness for this topic.

The high alpine natural landscapes of the Alps are in danger, as their development is constantly progressing through the expansion of the ski area and its infrastructure - all in the midst of an increasingly noticeable climate catastrophe.

What does a future look like without wild glaciers? And how many ski regions do we really need?

Vanishing Lines tells the story of these last remaining alpine natural spaces, shaped by silence and ice, and asks the questions: What does a future look like without wild glaciers? And how many ski regions do we really need?

The 20-minute documentary was shot in Tyrol / Austria and shows Patagonia Snow ambassadors Lena Stoffel and Mitch Tölderer. The film Vanishing Lines by Johannes Aitzetmüller will be presented at several screenings throughout Europe over the winter and is available online here.
