hunger for competition aroused
13 years ago, Adam Ondra measured himself at a European Cup in the Czech Republic for the first time. The lead competition didn't go according to plan at the time. Ondra slipped his foot in the semifinals. That was the end of the final.
Last Sunday the Czech was able to fully demonstrate his strengths in front of his home crowd. Ondra managed the first final boulder, a tricky slab problem, on the second try. This gave his self-confidence a boost, says Adam Ondra.
"I cruised through problem number two, but was disappointed after my performance on boulder three, which I couldn't top." By climbing the fourth boulder, Ondra was able to make the sack, victory was certain for him.
"The European Cup in Prague was very exciting and definitely made me hungry to compete again," says Ondra. He is now looking forward to further competitions in the coming months. The next IFSC World Cup will take place in Seoul from May 6th to 8th.
