At the Arc'teryx Alpine Academy in early July, we had the opportunity to have an in-depth conversation with Swiss professional climber Nina Caprez. What influence did the birth of her daughter Lia have on her life as a professional? Which moments were particularly challenging, which were particularly enriching?
Since the birth of her daughter Lia in 2022, a lot has changed in Nina Caprez's life, but one thing has remained: her passion for climbing. So it's not surprising that just one year after the birth, Caprez climbed one of the most difficult multi-pitch routes in Switzerland: Yeah Man (8b+, 300m) in the Gastlosen.
At the same time, Caprez says that the birth of her daughter helped her to distance herself from pure "performance". She is much more interested in the overall package that our sport offers. However, Nina Caprez describes one moment since the birth of her daughter as "the greatest challenge in my life".
