A successful short trip to France came to an end for Alexander Megos from Erlangen, and his tick list is impressive. Shortly before the end, he onsighted the 8c+ route "Nadesjda".
Known for difficult onsight ascents
With more than 20 onsight ascents of routes 8c and above (according to 8a.nu), Alexander Megos can be considered a professional in this climbing style. His first route in this style made him world-famous at just 19 years old. Rewind a bit: In March 2013, Alexander Megos first made headlines with his onsight ascent of "Estado Critico" (9a) in Siurana. He was the first person to achieve an onsight at this grade. After a week of climbing in France, he has now returned home with "Nadesjda" (8c+) on his first attempt. But the day was far from over for the rock climbing pro. On the same day, he also climbed "Le Blond, la Brute et le Manouche" (8c+) on his second attempt, as well as "Progression" (8b+/c) – also on his second attempt.
Alexander Megos.
That was certainly one of the biggest battles I've ever had on an onsight; I was close to crashing countless times.
