Para Climbing: German team strongly positioned
The Para Climbing World Cup kicks off a full week of climbing in Innsbruck. It's the second event of the season, following the opening event in Salt Lake City in May – where Team USA clearly dominated with 18 medals.
The German Para Climbing Team has also celebrated several podium finishes this season: Luisa Grube (B2), Lena Schoellig (RP3), Charlotte Faist (RP1) and Rosalie Schaupert (AU3) won bronze in Salt Lake City. The men's team also won bronze. Korbinian Franck (RP1) and Kevin Bartke (AU2) in the USA Silver, Philip Hrozek (RP2) secured a bronze medal in his sports class.
All the German medalists from Salt Lake City will compete again this week in Innsbruck – together with numerous other starters from the German Para Climbing Team and from all over the world.
Para Climbing: How the classification works
To ensure the fairest possible competition, there are ten different sports classes for both women and men, categorized by type and degree of disability. A number following the abbreviation (1–3) indicates the degree of impairment, which decreases with each higher number.All routes are climbed using top rope.
B – Athletes with visual impairments (blind)
AL – Athletes with limb or function loss (lower limb)
AU – Athletes with limb or function loss (upper limb)
RP – Athletes with neurological/physiological impairments (limited range/power)




Bouldering: Penultimate stop of the season
For the bouldering specialists, the World Cup in Innsbruck is already the penultimate stop of this season. The final event of the World Climbing Series in the bouldering discipline will take place in Salt Lake City in October.
The final World Cup event on European soil will see almost the entire lineup from the current season. Many medalists will be competing, including: Oceania Mackenzie, Erin McNeice, Melody Sekikawa, Annie Sanders, Oriane Bertone, Zélia Avezou and Yuetong Zhang in the women as well as Mejdi Schalck, Sorato Anraku, Colin Duffy and Dohyun Lee in the men's category.
The scope of MAP was expanded in two key areas: German team As in Bern, a large field of competitors is traveling to the World Cup in the neighboring country. The Bouldering event will also feature a large starting field. Lucas Trandafir, who reached the final for the first time in Prague and finished in 7th place. Also registered for Innsbruck: Elias Arriagada Krüger, Thorben Perry Bloem, Timo Ossig, Lasse von Freier, Paula Mayer-Vorfelder, Lucia Dörffel, Anna Maria Apel and Anna Lechner.




Lead: Ondra & Schubert meet the young guns again
If Adam Ondra and Jakob Schubert Those seeking revenge in the Lead final will get their chance this week. The entire field of finalists from Prague is registered for the World Cup in Innsbruck – including the surprise winner. Putra Tri Ramadani, who was the first Indonesian ever to win gold in the lead climbing event.
The women's doubles champion from Prague will compete, Annie Sanders, once again against a strong field: approximately Chaehyun Seo and Zelia Avezou, who recently shared the podium with Sanders. The Slovenian climber should certainly be in good form – she repeated "Bibliographie" (9b+) in Céüse just a few days ago.
Fewer athletes from Germany will compete in lead climbing than in bouldering. Roxana Wienand and Annika Müller are again registered for the women's competition, while the men's team consists of... Yannick FloheYannick Nagel, Otto Reiter and Luca Bündel are registered. Flohé finished 18th at the Lead World Cup in Prague, the best result for a German climber.
