Climber accidentally killed in Wimmis

On Tuesday morning there was a fatal accident in the climbing garden Burgfluh near Wimmis. An 39-year climber plunged 20 meters into the depths. The climber died at the accident site.

Early Tuesday morning, 7. August 2018, received a report on a severe climbing accident at the cantonal police in Bern. According to initial clarifications, one of the climbers, the backup partner, was on the ground while the second climber fell from a height of 20 meters.

The victim was a mountain guide

Despite the rapid deployment of a Rega rescue helicopter and immediate rescue measures, the climber died at the accident site. The exact course of the accident is not yet known and is being investigated by the cantonal police of Bern under the direction of the public prosecutor Oberland. As reported by LACRUX, the 39-year-old climber is an experienced mountain guide from the Bern region who is among others for the alpine school mountain point was active.
