Rätikon climbing hall plans comprehensive renovation

The Rätikon climbing hall in Küblis is facing an urgently needed renovation. After around 20 years, the hall no longer meets today's requirements. The section is therefore planning a comprehensive renovation with a total budget of CHF 650. The missing funds are to be financed through patrons and sponsors. The project group is supported by Nina Caprez, among others.

The Rätikon climbing hall is not only of great importance for the local climbing community, but also plays a central role in local tourism. The hall is used both in summer and winter as a bad weather alternative and is enjoying a growing number of visitors.

Schools, vocational schools and other sports clubs appreciate the multi-sport offering and use the facility regularly. The climbing hall is an indispensable training location, especially for the youth organization (JO) of the SAC Prättigau.

Between October and April, up to 90 young people complete three evening training sessions per week here. The strong integration of the hall into the activities of the JO has contributed to the Prättigau section being one of the strongest in Switzerland.

renovation project with big goals

With the planned renovation, the Rätikon climbing hall is set to remain an attractive place for climbing and bouldering fans in the future. The expansion of the offering, from challenging routes to specialized training equipment, aims to encourage both beginners and ambitious climbers.

In addition, the hall will also provide space for private and business events. Accordingly, various renovation options were examined. At the general meeting of the SAC Prättigau section in March 2024, the variant with a budget of CHF 650 and the use of equity of CHF 000 was unanimously approved.

This means: Provided that the financing of the total costs is secured, the renovation project is to be implemented at the current Küblis location.

Search for patrons and sponsors started

The project group – consisting of SAC board members Christian Nett, Fabian Casutt and Kurt Hitz, supported by Cornelia Wohlgemuth in the marketing department – is now looking for patrons and sponsors.

"The goal is challenging. But together we will achieve it," says Christian Nett. The team is supported by, among others, sport climbing professional Nina Caprez, who grew up in Küblis.

The Rätikon climbing hall is part of my history and is very close to my heart.

Nina Caprez

"It is a place where young and young at heart can come together and share their enthusiasm for climbing," says Nina Caprez, and calls for support. "Help us - together we can create top moments here!"
