Will Gadds tests mobile fuses on the fragile ice formations of the Helmcken Falls

Manufacturers like Black Diamond rely on product testing in the field. Only then can they develop their products. One of 20's years of testing products is Canadian pro Will Gadds. In his latest hair-raising action he tested mobile fuses on the brittle ice formations of the Helmcken Falls.

Will Gadds was an early proponent of the Cobra carbon fiber ice ax and then, as now, has put Black Diamond prototypes to the test on the world's most spectacular ice formations. From an inspection of Niagara Falls with the prototypes of the Ice Pitons to an expedition to Greenland with extra long ice screws, Gadd is always ready to expose new equipment to the demands of a real adventure and in this way provide priceless feedback to the product designers and engineers.

“My idea is that, thanks to these ice tools, you can also secure yourself in soft ice. Let's see if it works. "Will Gadds

His latest idea included several innovations born of his Canadian ingenuity, captured in the following film. The film documents the latest material tests by Will Gadd on the unique ice formations of the Helmcken Falls.
